Simple & Delicious: Chocolate Truffles

Image
This is a really easy recipe that looks impressive, especially when you cover the truffles in different coatings such as cocoa powder, powdered sugar and coconut flakes like I did. My next goal is to cover them in dark chocolate, once I have mastered the art of chocolate tempering!! Ingredients: - 1 Can (14Oz. Can) Sweetened Condensed Milk - 1/2 Tablespoon Butter - 1/3 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder - 1/3 Cup Powdered Sugar - 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract - 1/4 Teaspoon Sea Salt Cocoa powder, powdered sugar, coconut flakes or crushed up hazelnuts if you wish to coat the truffles. Directions: In a saucepan, on medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and the butter. Next, add in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla extract. Mix well. The mixture will be runny at first, but will stiffen up after about 15 minutes. Stir continually, do not allow to burn. If it begins to bubble then reduce the heat a little. Once the mixture is stiff enough to pr

I absolutely love this collection of photographs from Seth Casteel. So adorably uplifting. I can totally imagine him in the pool, camera poised and ready and next thing you know there is a ball of wild fur ploughing through the water, mouth agape and paws askew, coming towards you!! Such a wonderful concept and, what can I say, the results speak for themselves! Order calendars or prints online here: www.littlefriendsphoto.com

My Favorite Brooklyn Brunch Spots: Sweetwater

Image
I've been to Sweetwater about 5 times in the last 6 months and have genuinely enjoyed every visit. Unfortunately, my most recent visit, ironically when I decided to write a review, was my worst experience. The food and ambiance was it's usual high standard and our server was genuinely very nice but unfortunately our food took almost an hour and a half to come...I wouldn't mind so much but the only thing that actually required any cooking was the eggs benedict. All in all though, Sweetwater is still one of my favorite places for a lazy Sunday brunch, whether it's in the beautifully lush secluded garden or on one of the comfy burgundy booths inside.  My favorite dishes on the menu so far are the muscles and the feta and watermelon salad. They make a mean bloody mary too! I should probably mention that our server comped 2 of our bloody mary's as well as the iced coffee because of the delay and it was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend that you go on a sunny

Beautiful Bottle Cap House

In the small rural town of Kamarchaga in the Siberian Taiga, Olga Kostina has taken recycling to a whole new level by covering her house in a mosaic of colorful bottle tops. She has nailed over 30,000 plastic bottle caps all over her house, creating these magical pixelated patterns.

The New York Public Library

Image
This is one of my favorite buildings in the world. If you ever come to New York for a visit, I highly recommend that you pop in for a quick break from the craziness of 5th Ave. Wander around the ornate hallways and spectacular rooms for a moment or two of relaxed serenity and breath in the delicious smell of old books.
