My Favorite Stores: Strawser & Smith Inc

The ethos of Strawser & Smith is simple: older is better! In the 19th and early 20th centuries, American factories produced machinery and furniture unparalleled in its craftsmanship and solidity of construction. Combining contemporary and roughhewn shapes with a genteel aesthetic, Strawser and Smiths' furniture repurposes remnants from a bygone era of pride through craftsmanship and elegance in design. Each piece is formed using antique or vintage industrial relics and built by American craftsmen with traditional materials and methods.
I picked up a fantastic old map of Greenpoint and if money were no object I would have cleaned the place out!!
